Double Success for Malcolm Scott Consultants and Hawkesmill Nurseries

Hawkesmill Nurseries are soon to be increasing production in the Green Belt thanks to two recent planning permissions obtained by Malcolm Scott Consultants

The most recent permission is for Phase Two of development at Hawkesmill's Fen End Road site near Solihull.  Malcolm Scott Consultants  obtained the original consent for a Nursery at the site back in October 2008.  The First Phase comprised 2,400m² of production polytunnels, a plant standing out aera and staff portacabin, on a green field.

The most recent permission is for 4,890m² of horticultural glasshouses and two irrigation tanks and extends the area of the nursery onto green field land to the south-west.

Meanwhile, at Hawkesmill Nurseries' main Honily Road site, work is underway on a new Despatch Building which will be operational in time for the Spring 2011 season.  Malcolm Scott Consultants obtained planning permission for the development in November 2010.  The permission for a 750m² plant despatch barn also allows the relocation and extension of 1,244m² polytunnels and improvements to the highway access.

The new despatch building will allow Hawkesmill Nurseries to handle larger numbers of plants for increased orders for 2011.

Richard Evans of Hawkesmill Nurseries said: "We are delighted that we now have permission for Phase Two of the Fen End site and our main despatch building.  This will allow us to increase production at our Nurseries to meet increased demand.  Using Malcolm Scott Consultants to handle the planning on our behalf has allowed us to concentrate on what we do best - growing plants."
