Malcolm Scott Consultants has enhanced its environmental support offering with the appointment of a Senior Bat Ecologist.

Helen Archer joins the business from JBA Consulting, where she delivered a wide range of environmental and ecological projects for clients including wind and solar farm developers, Local Authorities and Internal Drainage Boards, along with independently managing multidisciplinary projects for Network Rail, AMCO and Maltgrade Homes, with particular specialism in bat ecology.

Chris Primett, Director, said that the business, with its sister company Harris Lamb, had been committed to expanding its environmental support over the past 12 months.

“There is an ever increasing requirement to address environmental issues when putting planning applications together, and we want to be proactive in working with our clients to identify and address these issues as they arise in order to protect wildlife and minimise delays for our clients.

“Helen has a wealth of experience in coordinating and delivering bat surveys and mitigation for a wide range of complex development projects across the UK.

“With the key time for bat activity surveys being May to August, she has joined us at a crucial time, and is a huge asset to the business. We’re looking forward to supporting out clients in the coming months.”

Helen said: “Having a background in delivering ecological services for commercial developers, including numerous Tesco developments, I was attracted to the opportunity of having greater continued involvement with the ecological challenges facing the commercial development sector, particularly those concerning bats.

“I am keen to apply my expertise in bat ecology to help facilitate surveying and licensing, and provide support across a diverse range of projects.”
