Established garden centre and farm shop specialists Malcolm Scott Consultants have confirmed their attendance at this year’s GLEE exhibition, and are keen to showcase the diversification the business has undergone over the past 18 months.
The Worcester-based business has been a regular exhibitor at GLEE for year has broadened its offering to encompass end-to-end services for its clients. MSC is predominantly known for being a leading town planning specialist in the garden centre and farm shop industries, but with over 30 years’ experience within the team is now able to support clients further.
Services offered by the business now include ecology, business rating, concession management, day-to-day operational support, data analysis, restaurant and retail interior design, kitchen design, recruitment, product selection and mystery shopping, meaning that MSC has a great story to tell visitors to GLEE 2021.
Andrew Burton, who will be available at the show in September, said: “Since joining the MSC team in 2019, the business has broadened its horizons significantly. MSC has long held a strong reputation for its excellent planning and design work across the garden centre industry, and we seized the opportunity to extend the services we offered and the businesses we supported.
“Our team is extensive, with lead ecologists and business rating departments complimenting the core business for MSC, which is the site development, everyday operational support and town planning support.
“A key area we’ve seen develop significantly this past year is the farm shop and food hall sectors – which have thrived during the pandemic due to unhappy circumstance. There is a natural correlation between both garden centres and farm shops, and we’ve been able to support a number of clients in establishing a strong food offering focusing on high quality, locally produced foods to enhance their offering and increase footfall,” he said.
“We support farm shops and garden centres throughout the UK, and with me currently sitting on the Farm Retail Association Council and previously having sat on the Garden Centre Association Board, we like to think that we provide a professional, personal, caring and understanding support to independent owners.
“We have also seen a significant change in catering, both operationally and also in the way the seating areas are developing. We have a number of restaurant development plans underway at the moment to support each business focus on its customer needs, food offering and creating a real point of difference to its competitors,” Andrew explained.
“These areas are key to growth across the UK, and I’d encourage any business to contact us to discuss their food proposition and see if we can give some advice,” he added.
GLEE will take place at the NEC in Birmingham from September 14-16 and MSC will be located on stand 20K36. Contact Andrew on firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a meeting at GLEE 21 or to discuss any areas of interest.
