Planning, retail and operations specialists Malcolm Scott Consultants have been shortlisted for a prestigious national award within the farm shop sector.
The business, which works with rural businesses throughout the UK, including farm shops, garden centres and farm parks to help develop and expand, has been shortlisted for the Supplier Of The Year category in the National Farm Retail Association Awards, which recognise and celebrate the best farm retailers in the country.
Malcolm Scott Consultants offers services including business development, site planning, town planning and end-to-end operational support across retail and catering areas across the sector.
Andrew Burton, of Malcolm Scott Consultants, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award.
“Due to Covid, the past 18 months has seen a significant increase in the support and guidance offered by our team, as farm shops and garden centres tapped into our expertise to develop and grow their retail and hospitality offering during the pandemic, be it to capitalise on the essential retail guidelines, or to adapt their properties to attract higher footfall levels further to reopening.
“We’re proud of the results we’ve seen, and hope that the judges are impressed with the impact we’ve helped make on the customer proposition and turnover of our clients. We are extremely pleased that our contribution has been recognised and considered worthy of consideration for the category,” he added.
The business is currently working on 11 farm shop and food hall projects based across the country from Newcastle to Southend. Works being undertaken include planning, detailed design, retail layout, product sourcing, financial projections and recruitment.
Chairman of the Farm Retail Association, Rob Copley said: “This could be our toughest awards yet, the calibre of entries is so high, this will certainly be a difficult one to judge. Good luck to all our finalists, we look forward to an exciting ceremony in March!”
The awards will take place on Tuesday 1st March 2022 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead as part of the FRA’s annual conference, Stronger Together 2022.
